PRAYER IS JUST TALKING TO GOD

Philippians 4:6
Don’t worry about anything; instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done.

Take a moment to reflect on the blessings in your life. Consider your journey and the lessons you’ve learned. Reflect on how you’ve become the person you are and how fortunate you are. Think about the love you’ve received and, more importantly, the love you’ve given to others. Now, take a deep breath; feel that, that’s the connection you’re making with God. This moment is a prayer of gratitude for the life you’re living, the life he’s given you.

In this very short period of time, we have prayed to God, and hopefully, it didn’t take much effort. We are all aware of the meaning and the power of prayer. But, sadly, there are some out there who don’t. They don’t know how to open their hearts and speak the words needed to talk to God, and that’s all that prayer is: a conversation with God. There are people who will say that they don’t have time to pray; they just have too much going on. All I can say to that is, “really, because God has time for you”. Maybe what this all boils down to is that they don’t know God; they haven’t accepted God into their lives, they don’t have faith, thus they don’t know how to talk to God.

In Matthew chapter 17, when Jesus’ disciples failed to heal a boy they asked him why they failed. In Matthew 17:20 Jesus told them, “You don’t have enough faith. I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’, and if would move. Nothing would be impossible.” And In Mark 9:23 Jesus tells us, “Anything is possible if a person believes”.

So, the first step in praying is to believe in God. The second step is to have faith. Faith that when you open your heart and mind, and the words start to flow for that conversation with him that he is listening to you. Because he is, he hears you.

I believe. I believe in God, I believe that Jesus Christ is our savior and I believe in the power of prayer. For those of you who are struggling with finding the words for that conversation with God, I’ll leave you with the words of Paul from Ephesians 4:16-21
I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as well God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.
